You need to delete the PrimoPDF settings XML file, which can be found in your Application Data folder.
- Navigate to %AppData%\PrimoPDF
- Delete PrimoSet.xml. You could back it up first, but I wouldn’t say it’s important.
After doing so, upon opening PrimoPDF again, the settings file will be re-created. Note that your previous PrimoPDF settings will have been lost, so make sure you set them correctly again.
Credit goes to itsupport.vizada.com (page no longer active) for pointing in the right direction.
Thi location is also outdated: use %appdata%\Roaming\PrimoPDF instead

Dear Sir, I am having the problem for a long time that when I try to use Primo PDF I get the answer: “PrimoPDF Exception: Invalid XML document, The document does not have a root element.. ” I have put this phrase in Google and found your excellent page. However, I don’t know how to “Navigate to %AppData%\PrimoPDF”. (for your info I think that I have Windows Vista). Consequently I am unable to “Delete PrimoSet.xml.” Can you help me? I would like to get rid of that problem and use my Primo PDF. Many thanks in advance for your help!
Hi Jean. There are a couple of ways to do so. One is to paste %AppData%\PrimoPDF into the Windows Explorer bar and press Enter. Another is to press Win + R, paste %AppData%\PrimoPDF in the Open box, and press OK.
Thanks. Its working…

Hi! Deleting the PrimoSet.xml fixes the problem but the the file keeps reappearing and I have to keep deleting it. Is there anything I can do to stop file being recreated?

I have out of blue got the same massage when I tried to safe files on usb from Software I use.
Then I went and deleted the primoset file – it may have had different ending. and now primo pdf has stopped working completely. I cant connect my computer to internet due to the software I use and was inhaled on this computer. Its not allowed and I use it in medical practise and absolutely not allowed to connect to internet. Any help?
Hi Jana. Not sure exactly what your issue is, but are you able to restore the file you deleted? If not, perhaps you can download the setup program on a different computer and transfer it via USB drive to allow you to reinstall it.
Yes, it works 🙂
You ROCK – thank you… my nightmare is over!
Thank you so much. I was facing this problem after a sudden ‘Blue Screen’ error, just when the conversion was taking place. Thanks again.
