Summary

An exciting new business venture was about to launch. Involving the sale of beekeeping equipment, it needed an online storefront to sell its wares.

Description

One of our most involved projects to date, the Bee Basic Ltd site is also one of the websites we are most proud of. The tasks included:

• designing a business logo
• installing a website shop maintenance system
• setting up an online payment facility
• inserting an online catalogue of products
• selecting and using a suitable web host

Design

For this project, somewhat unusually, we also had to design a business logo. This required some trial and error, but we were still able to come up with a design that the client was content with on its first airing.

On the matter of the general site design, however, in this instance we had the use of a website shop management system, which provided a solid structure for the site. We altered it to relect the aim of the company and were able to do so relatively simply and quickly.

Code

In addition to the usual XHTML, CSS, and PHP, a MySQL database was also implemented. This was necessary for effective handling of many of the site's features, such as the catalogue of products.

Client response

Perhaps the best measure of a website shop's success is the number of customers it gains; and in this case, indeed, the Bee Basic Ltd website was soon receiving orders and payments. Bee Basic Ltd was off to a good start!
